Tonight is the beginning of the Jewish feast of Pesach, also known as Passover. Jewish days begin at sunset and so tonight, Wednesday 8 April, is the first night of Pesach which runs to Thursday 16 April in the Diaspora and Wednesday 15 within Israel itself. As the Jewish calendar is a lunar calendar, the Gregorian dates for Pesach change each year. Next year it will start sunset Monday March 29.
You can find out more about Pesach, its significance and meaning, how it's celebrated, its traditons and special foods for Pesach here at the Orthodox Union or at this Passover/Pesach site where there's lots of good stuff.
So
Chag Sameach Pesach!!!
Happy Festival of Pesach/Passover!!!
